On the evening of October 14th 2015, the 3rd Annual RAGTRADE Runway Show took place at the historic Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta. With 3 years of presence in the city, RAGTRADE is said to be Atlanta’s prime debut for a hopeful installation of a true Atlanta Fashion Week. Guests, media, travelers and the like would all concur that this event provides an excellent platform for emerging designers to showcase their designs in a manner that facilitates long-lasting networks in the industry and encourages the development of these professionals including buyers, media, bloggers and target influencers. With so many elements being demonstrated during this event, it was important to select the ideal venue that was classy enough, yet a staple space with ample room to host all of the guests, vendors and runway for Rag Trade 2015.
Upon entry at the venue, guests had the option of paying a visit to the Style Lounge prior to entering into the main section where the vendors, sponsors and runway was located. This year’s Style Lounge featured informationals and mannequins of looks created by Designers Edmond Newton of Project Runway Season 14, Brendan Combs, Natt Taylor, Sylvia Mollie and Zachary/Nathaniel. In the main section, there were a host of creative vendors and sponsor tables for the guests to browse while networking with other industry businesses and individuals. The dimly lit freight hall set an ambiance for the whole evening that spoke of class, elegance and built anticipation for the runway show to follow. The night before, supporters and fans of RAGTRADE attended the opening party and launch at the spectacular Aloft Atlanta Downtown Hotel.
Finally, the time for the runway show was at hand! This year, we witnessed elegant chic pieces by Edmond Newton, a series of fun, feminine, yet sophisticated pieces by Natt Taylor, Brendan Combs’ gave us a taste of his pop-modern and tailored looks, Sylvia Mollie awed us with her edgy sophisticated dresses and last, Zachary/Nathaniel displayed his refined “dark paradise” aesthetic probing the viewers to engage into the story behind the inspiration. Each designer demonstrated an execution of their collections that was simply impeccable in their own respect.
