Inspiring Capital, an organization that leverages business talent to help social ventures operate and grow more strategically and efficiently, recently held their 2nd Annual Inspire Impact Showcase at Thomas Reuters in New York.
Inspiring Capital accelerates the social enterprise sector by connecting talented business professionals and high-potential, purpose-driven ventures.
Take-a ways from this year’s showcase included:
- Funders (philanthropists and impact investors) and social change organizations need to be honest with each other about their needs and expectations in order to get to genuinely impactful partnerships. We need more financial capital to attract and retain the awesomely talented people it takes to make real change. Read more about this at The Overhead Myth.
- Consider what inspires you to make change, and then what your intention is to make the world a better place each day. Monitor how and when the integrity of those intentions are challenged, and what impact you’re able to have by protecting your integrity. In other words, watch your values in action!
- Connect with people every day by asking tough questions that matter! As Ernest Duncan (CFO, The Doe Fund) and Diana Ayton-Shenker (Advisor, Inspiring Capital and Founder, Global Momenta) suggested, take a moment to ask the Men in Blue (or your neighbor, colleague, friend, or *yourself*), “What do you want to do with your life?” And then listen to the answer. And make it happen.
