If your ideal place to rest your head would be a cross between a chic South Beach hotel and a charming Southern B&B, Savannah’s latest sleep spot addition is for you.
Welcome to The Brice, a Kimpton Hotel, which opened last summer on Washington Square (only a few blocks away from the River District). As soon as I drove up to the clean white facade of the hotel, I knew this wasn’t your typical Savannah property.
And that’s what I found so charming about The Brice. There’s a nightly happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. where guests can enjoy a glass of complimentary wine, pets are welcome, and there are yoga mats in every room along with Pilates and meditation stations on every in-room flat screen.
Speaking of the rooms, get ready for a taste of Southern beauty with a dash of modern flair. The Brice’s 145 guest rooms, including 26 stylish suites, are home to edgy versions of classic four-poster beds covered in Italian linens, pops of fuchsia, honor bars stocked with organic goodies, and C.O. Bigelow bath products.
Beginning this spring, you’ll be able to enjoy a pool where you can take a dip much of the year, thanks to Savannah’s subtropical latitude. (Good news, grown-ups — the pool will be adults only from 8 to 10 a.m.) And you can take a spin on one of the complimentary public bikes the hotel provides to explore the city and its 22 squares — or just veg out with an in-room spa service.
Feeling hungry? Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar has you covered. For breakfast, I loved the Crepes Florentine (think crepes, spinach, ricotta, and tomato sauce) or one of the fresh juices. If you don’t feel like exploring the amazing Savannah restaurant scene, you can also grab lunch or weekend brunch at this eat spot. And for dinner, save room for the seasonal tastes that can include everything from fresh pasta to Coca Cola short ribs to flatbreads.
